‘The Battle between Shrovetide & Lent’: A Concert for Shrove Tuesday

A new concert by critically-acclaimed early music ensemble Passamezzo. ‘The Battle between Shrovetide and Lent’ performs the eternal struggle between Carnival excess and Lenten austerity, leading the audience through the history of Shrove Tuesday and Lent in Britain by way of music, words and song from the 16th and 17th centuries.

Pancake Day History Workshop

Tuesday 13 February, 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM | Bristol Central Library,  Deanery Road, City Centre, Bristol (BS1 5TL).

Spend a fun-filled afternoon exploring the history of Pancake Day at the Bristol Central Library. Activities will include pancake racing, pancake tossing, Carnival mask-making, and an interactive exhibition of postgraduate research from the University of Bristol with activities about food, drink, sports, theatre, ritual, celebration, and more.
